Harvest.

We are in our harvest time. Projects we bid on have come in, while we continue to bid more. It's our busy time. We have slow times, but even then we stay busy chasing project details.

We are just completing a small bath remodel, and today brought our sub crew on to build a loft in a barn. The Carpenter was looking forward to today. Starting a creative project and working with subs we don't get to spend time with on a weekly basis.

I look forward to the stories the Carpenter will bring home from the job site. Our subs have worked together for many years and have a fun playful work attitude. They bounce off each other with a good sense of humor which always lightens our work day.

It's also a good thing for our lead carpenter to gain some co-workers for a few days. It's hard to work solo or with the Carpenter when needed. We've tried to hire some quality guys in the last three years but it just hasn't panned out. It just isn't meant to be for now. We are thankful for our trusted sub crew. They are meant to be.

The Carpenter also brings home stories of the kids he meets on the job sites. He has a way with children and has promoted many little apprentice carpenters over the years. They can't wait to see him when he pulls up and they try to be very "helpful" with whatever he needs. Last night we were reminiscing about a particular little guy at a master bath project we were on 26 years ago! That little guy would be well into his 30s by now! Gulp.

It is looking like we will have a full project load for the summer, at least the early summer. Our harvest is plentiful right now but we continue to plant "seeds". And I continue to enjoy the stories the Carpenter brings home!

PS Photo is not the barn we are currently working on. I just had to use this photo I had!
