Work started in December and continued to early summer (we also remodeled the laundry room and its bath). It was a cold hard winter as usual, and the house was opened up at times. (we work hard to protect a home from cold as much as possible during the phase where the house is finally opened up to the new addition) Even with the fireplace going.. it was just plain miserably cold for part of the project. I heard Saturday night that during the coldest times our crew would make sure Wilson their older dog was kept bundled up against the chill.
It was a big project which the Carpenter thoroughly enjoyed working on. It had its difficult moments- a flooded basement in the spring, and two feet of thick red mud in the backyard (caused by a winter of construction equipment) which only the family dogs enjoyed.
Through all the ups and downs of a huge remodel a wonderful thing happened… we gained a friendship. And that is what found us two years past the completion of the remodel enjoying a delicious meal and good conversation. How wonderful it was to see our handiwork being used and enjoyed.
Thank you Dave and Julie. You were a joy to work for and we are so happy we were part of helping you achieve your dream kitchen. Your friendship is icing on the cake!
