possibilities & challenges

It's been a long winter but a good winter. We've been blessfully busy. The summer and fall has the promise of a diverse project workload. We have not seen this much work potential ever. A sign of a strengthening economy? It is a bountiful time of possibilities and challenges.

A full project load means the Carpenter has been putting in some very very long days and nights. Last night alone he was out in the cabinet shop varnishing till 2 AM. And that is after a day that started at 7:30 AM. He's had this kind of a schedule for many years.. sometimes it's worse than other times. Thankfully he loves what he does!

We've always been a small company. We're now at that crucial point- taking the leap from small to multiple employees and potentially two crews. (the two crew part is my dream) This is huge for many reasons which I will save for another post. But we've paid our dues- ...
experienced all the highs and lows of being self-employed, survived the national housing market crisis, gathered significant experience and knowledge, received a few hard knocks, learned how to work not just hard but smart. I think we are ready.

Monday May 20th marks the beginning of change. We are bringing on a new Applewood team member. We are very excited and looking forward to our expanded capabilities, speed and for some down time for the Carpenter. Rest is a good thing!

So as we move forward we embrace the future, the big and small projects. Working with homeowners and subcontractors and incoming new employees. We're excited to see the impact expanded Applewood teams- (a girl can dream) can bring to this time, this economy. We will continue to value craftsmanship, integrity, reliability and the importance of relationship between homeowners and our crew. And we say thank you to all our wonderful past and present customers. Thanks for choosing Applewood.
