The weight of work.

Spring is almost here! I know that because road restrictions go on tonight at midnight. (3/10) For those of you who don’t know what those are, it is a weight restriction that vehicles can’t exceed during the spring thawing season. They start tonight and depending on the weather, they usually get lifted sometime between April 15 and the 30th

All contractors are very familiar with them for reasons as this. We have a dumpster that needs to be picked up. I don’t think we have an issue, but it is things like this that we have to worry about.

Large lumber loads, concrete delivery, dump trucks– they all have to be considered during road restriction season. There have been some instances where we have had to meet a large delivery truck that was too heavy for the road we were working on, and off-load on to a trailer, or smaller trucks to get the load to the job. We do what we have to do.

On a different note, I want to thank my crew, led by our carpenter Adam. Richard, JJ– all three of you made this last job very enjoyable. Between "schnizels", large mustaches and singing, you have all put a smile on my most times serious work face. We are wrapping up almost two months of ripping, tearing, cutting, prying, nailing, stapling, hauling junk and re-building. We have seen broken rafters, bat droppings, inferior framing, dangerous fireplaces, and lots of examples of how things should not be done. We went from a high of 2 degrees two weeks ago, to today with a high of 64.

We have taken a dangerous and broken house, and brought it back to how it should have been built to begin with. Our customers will now have a home they don’t have to worry about. A home they can now enjoy under a safe roof.

As we wrap this one up in the next couple weeks, I look forward to what the next job has in store and hopefully the "Three Musketeers" will meet again!
