With heart.

It has been a rocky week. We've been dealing with brutal temps which stopped the outside work, crew illness and death in one of our sub's family. It's taken some juggling but we've managed to keep part of the crew going on our small bath remodel during the days the bitter won. …

We are almost finished with the bath remodel but are now tiling the homeowners foyer. She is using tile that looks like wood grain. Check out this previous post. http://carpenterandtheartist.blogspot.com/2012/10/stained-tile-that-looks-like-wood.html Her foyer is her main entrance so is a high traffic/dirt area. The wood tile is a great solution for not showing dirt yet providing durability that a wood floor would not. This happens sometimes when we are in a project.. the homeowners add another project. We do our best to fit that into our schedule.

The Carpenter and I had some "constructive" meetings this week. Met with an individual who  will be helping us with our numbers, and I met with our web guy who is helping me with our new website. I'm going to be taking full responsibility for it, and boy do I have a lot of work to do to prepare!

I've also been seriously considering how to better market "Carpenter and the Artist". There are a ton of builders out there.. much larger (but not more experienced) then Applewood. They can not offer what we do- the relationship and dynamic of us. The Carpenter brings massive construction experience and I bring the equivalent of design. Maybe if I play the cards right… we could be the next Chip and Joanna Gaines? Why not? I love her design sensibilities. http://magnoliahomes.net/about/

So even though a ton of nails didn't get pounded we worked and overcame what challenges were placed before us. We are thankful for our Lead Carpenter and our subs. They have been working in difficult conditions with spirit. We just need a good project manager to assist the Carpenter on the sites. Do you know anybody?

And of course the "Carpenter and the Artist" would love to help you create your dream home or project.. right where you are.. with heart.
