A light from a window...

The other night I was driving to the public path by the lake to take our snack manager for a walk. A single lit window caught my eye. I made a note to circle back on my way home to check out what caught my attention. …

Light beamed out from a beautiful cathedral window. What amazed and excited me was to see that this new window was installed in a rather average cape style home. There was nothing extraordinary about this home. But an extraordinary thing had happened to it. As I drove by I noticed how tall the window was, I could see a soaring cathedral ceiling in a new kitchen! How smart of the designer to place a large vertical window to create a feeling of spaciousness and an architectural statement in a (I am sure) small kitchen. A single window, some removed interior walls, and opening up the ceiling created a wonderful new gathering space for this lucky family home. How do I know this? I just know. ;)

I could see a row of contemporary metal shade pendants hanging from a center beam and glimpses of white. It was so inspiring to me. I love to see updated rooms in existing homes. More so then brand new construction. It's refreshing or repurposing a space, being efficient and seeing the potential in a room. It's the creative challenge of fitting the refreshed space with the rest of the home. It's like working a puzzle.

I wish every project we did was like this. I do get a taste of this with the organizing work I'm currently doing. I get to– after the contents of a room are dealt with– in most cases rearrange and repurpose furniture from other areas of the house. Room by room. And room by room the home starts to breathe new life and energy.

So if you need some organizing help or would love to know the potential of an existing room in your home… give us a shout.
