"Dustlings"

Tell me it’s not so……..

Thanksgiving already, turkey and such already…. before you know it we will be saying, “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”

This time of year presents more then the usual amount of challenges for both us and our customers. Of course as the holidays arrive, we strive to do our best to keep things neat and orderly, more so than usual. We want to be ready for that unexpected snowstorm that could bury supplies and equipment overnight. ...

We also want to have the customers home ready for that unexpected surprise visit by Aunt Vivian and Uncle Henry. They need to be able to park their 1980 K car in the garage.. so there goes the tool and storage space.

Then we have the dust. The never ending dust, that during this time of year when your furnace is on, it carries all those little white "dustlings" to the farthest corner of your home. The corners where we have not even winked at, but they are still coated. (oh yeah, we did talk about that oh so long ago when the project started…you thought I was exaggerating about the "dustlings"…)

And then there is the stress. That nasty little word that at times can take the calmest of us and rock us to the core. The slightest things can turn into seemingly major problems yet they seldom are. I know. Today I should have stepped back for a minute on something and it probably wouldn’t have been anything at all.

And then we have the calendar. This year, Christmas is on a Wednesday. That needs to be outlawed. Any day but Wednesday. That’s the same for New Years too! I suppose we will work a half day on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, but Who in their right mind wants to work the days after??? Maybe some year we will just shut down the week between the two holidays.

At any rate, bear with us as we try to keep everything on schedule as things are thrown at us. Whether it’s the weather, holiday time off, mental health days, material not arriving on time, backordered parts, or your contractor who has maybe had a little too much sugar with his coffee, all will be fine!
