pistachio and cocoa

I love bunnies. Always have. And as I like to say.. it's a collection that multiplies itself... just place in a cupboard and a few days later... you will have a couple more! ;) I'm into knitting these days. Not sweaters or scarves.. bunnies. Specifically "roadkill bunnies".

That is what the Carpenter calls the single flat pieces (before they are sewn together and felted.) The pattern features basic stitches and techniques. Knitting hasn't come easy to me so I need to repeat and practice till it sticks. ...

These bunnies have been a challenge. I've spent many hours ripping and redoing. So many times I am going along... getting in the groove, I look down and I've dropped a stitch or created some mysterious stitch that doesn't resemble a knit or pearl. I'm still at the stage where I can't most of the time recover...so I rip back to before the offending area and start over. Even though I get just a little frustrated with myself.. I keep at it.

These bunnies are therapeutic. Knitting forces me to concentrate on the task at hand. I don't think about the bumpy worries in my life. It's something about the rhythm, the cadence, the focus. And when ready to felt (shrinking the piece in very hot water) it's exciting to see an added dimension as the fibers shrink together creating a soft fuzzy appearance. Blogging about bunnies has nothing to do with building homes... it's about creating something that is part of what makes your house a home. Whether it's a fuzzy knit bunny, a beautiful quilt, a piece of art... they all reflect who you are. home.
