As I have been talking about, we have been in some really
trying schedule times. We just finished the Oak Creek Project and are very very close to having
the Craftsman Project in the can. A concrete slab here and there, a little bit
of cedar trim, and a few hours in the laundry/bathroom part of the house and
then we can take our portfolio photos and say "Yes, we did build that!" ...
We will be adding on to their kitchen. It will change from a
15’x15’ kitchen to a 15’x30’ kitchen/fireplace room with lots of glass and a
double door leading to a small deck. We actually have it framed and all the
mechanicals are going in as we speak.
The Artist will soon be posting lots of photos of this one
as we progress. And look for the newest additions to our Dogs@Work photo section in the website. http://applewoodremodelers.com/dogs-work/ to introduce Nudge and Oliver!
Another interesting aspect of our building life of late is
our new hire– Tyler. Tyler came to us almost by accident. A couple of weeks ago the Artist and I were
having coffee with our Lead Carpenter, and we discussed what direction we would go with our future hires. We started thinking outside the box with the idea of going “green”. No, not the save the mother earth green, but green as in hiring someone with no experience. an apprentice.
Well not to bore anyone with the exact details, I met Tyler very
soon after and he asked me how a guy like him with no experience could
start to learn the remodeling/building trades. I handed him my card and the
rest is history. Neither one of us knows yet exactly where this may go, but he
is eager and excited to learn, and yes, I am eager and excited to teach again.
I think my track record is pretty good in that area. Oh yeah, he loves coffee, he can’t be all
that bad!
So here we go, another leap into making someone else love
where they live!
Oh, and to all you others who we are signing on to do your
work, don’t worry, we are probably hiring again. Oh the possibilities!
