A rainy day. A change of plans. We're on a window replacement project currently- Red Pine Blvd. Our inside project… the Maplewood Insurance project is winding down. The Carpenter had to make a decision this AM to call off work on the window project today. On days like today when he wakes up to rain or incoming rain.. he's glued to his cell phone watching radar. It's nice when we're juggling projects where we can switch to a "dry" inside job. But that's not the way it's rolling today. …
I was thinking this morning that construction is one of those professions where the weather does stop work. And this week the wet weather has added to an already shortened work week. The Carpenter and Adam our lead are headed to an annual fall weekend camping trip.. so Friday we are closed anyway. I know that as the rain continues to fall heavily outside my office window, that the Carpenter still has his eyes glued to radar in the hopes that a few hours can be worked still to keep the project on track.
And as I sit here I'm kind of enjoying this dark rainy day. We need the rain here in Minnesota. And looking on the "bright side"… it is good for a change of pace, to have an unexpected pause in the routine of our work life. And.. I also was able to make breakfast for the Carpenter and start our day together.. very rare indeed!
So here's to unexpected pauses and much needed rainy days. And here's hoping that we catch a good tailwind for the remainder of this week.
